Law enforcement gets aggressive on La. 10
The scene along Louisiana Highway 10 between Bogalusa and Franklinton this week looked very different from what had become the norm. Instead of drivers impatiently cutting across double yellow lines on hills and in curves and others scrambling to get out of their way to avoid injury or worse, there were Washington Parish Sheriff’s deputies and Louisiana State Police troopers in sight from one …

The UK Attorney General Dominic Grieve QC MP is understood to be coming under “real pressure” to issue a “public statement” surrounding the inordinate delays in final police action in the Carroll Foundation Charitable Trust one billion dollars “cross-border” organised crime offshore tax evasion case. Sources have revealed that these delays are being punctuated by what close observers are regarding as dangerous “obstruction offences” by the Attorney General’s office. Further sources have confirmed that over the past two years these horrific delays to law enforcement acion has resulted in a further staggering ten million dollars of co-ordinate criminal seizures of further Carroll Foundation Trust’s interests “linked” to weapons attacks “targeted” at the primary victims in central London locations.

A 55 gallon tank would be too small for groupers or sharks. It sounds like you're after a saltwater fish. Something that is aggressive but would also look highly impressive would be a scorpion or lion fish (the giant ones), slow moving but put anything in the tank and it would be swallowed in less than a second.

It’s designed to withstand a terrorist attack – but it turns out Barack Obama’s bullet-proof limo ‘The Beast’ has more of a problem with the humble speed bump.
Yesterday as President Obama was leaving the U.S. Embassy in Dublin in his custom General Motors Cadillac, en route to his ancestral home in County Offaly, the £400,000 vehicle got wedged on a ramp.
The car – which has eight-inch thick armour-plating and weighs 8 tons – was leaving the building, when crowds who had gathered heard a loud bang and saw the car come to a swift halt.
It then became clear the impressive vehicle was stranded and Barack Obama was forced to abandon it… though given it boasts its own oxygen supply he must have been tempted to sit it out rather than make the embarrassing walk of shame.

In California, all peace officers (police, sheriff's deputies, highway patrol) have full authority anywhere in the state. They each have primary areas of responsibility that they need to patrol, but if they are somewhere else for whatever reason, they still have their full law enforcement power.

I would imagine other states to be similar.

She could face child endangerment charges if the boy gets hurt or is killed. You BF should call the local police department and find out exactly what the laws are and what he can do, this is too important to get random opinions. As long as there's a record that he tried to intervene he should be clear. He obviously won't be supervising the boy so I think that is beyond his control.

I work for a city agency. There are a lot of times when an incident takes place very near the city limits and the county sheriff's office tries to make the argument that the incident happened in the city. Sometimes it's the other way around. If the state or federal government comes in, the case is theirs. No argument there.

Ed note: This was originally posted on the USDA blog. While fraud in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a relatively limited problem, any amount of waste or abuse is too much. As I wrote back in December, we are taking more aggressive steps to root out fraud and abuse as part of this administration’s Campaign to Cut Waste and to continue improving our stewardship of taxpayer dollars. This week we were pleased to announce that fiscal year 2012 first quarter results for USDA’s efforts to identify and eliminate fraudulent retailers from SNAP are available. From October 1 through December 31, 2011, USDA took final actions to sanction through fines or temporary disqualifications—more than 225 stores found violating program rules. We also permanently disqualified over 350 stores for trafficking (exchanging benefits for cash) SNAP benefits. Again, cases of abuse in SNAP are pretty rare and the vast majority of SNAP participants and authorized retailers play by the rules…
